Botswana Blockchain Summit

One the 1st and 2nd of December, the Botswana Blockchain Summit 2017 will be held in the country’s capital city Gaborone.

The Botswana Blockchain Summit aims to bring stakeholders in the blockchain community in Botswana, Africa, and the entire world to Gaborone to discuss and strategise on building a strong community to ensure large-scale adoption of this groundbreaking technology.

The Botswana Blockchain Summit will focus on how blockchain technology can empower Africa and will feature a wide range of speakers from African bitcoin and blockchain startups such as BitSoko, Cryptogene, and BTCGhana.

“We have decided this year to call different blockchain startups from around Africa with the hope of showing Botswana the power that the blockchain technology has and how much it is gonna impact our daily life,” event co-organiser and founder of the Satoshicentre Blockchain Hub, Itireleng Alakanani, told¬†BitcoinAfrica.io.

300 attendees are expected and 10 educational sessions are planned for the two-day conference that will focus on providing insight and information on how cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology can transform businesses and society as a whole in Botswana and Africa.

BitcoinAfrica.io also asked Mrs. Alakanani about the current state of Botswana’s local bitcoin community. She responded:

“The community in Botswana has really grown and this year, Satoshicentre has registered a lot of people from all corners of life who want to understand bitcoin.”

The Botswana Blockchain Summit 2017 is already the second installment of this conference after a successful debut blockchain summit in November 2016. This shows that bitcoin startup activities in Africa are not only limited to the continent’s leading economies Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya but that smaller nations are also making headway when it comes to bitcoin and blockchain adoption and innovation.

The conference will be held at the University of Botswana. Ticket prices are 200 BWP for students, 650 BWP for early birds, and 750 BWP for lazy birds. If you want to attend the Botswana Blockchain Summit you can purchase tickets here.
